Inherent Vice Squad was founded in 2009 by three object conservators who felt that function should merge with fun and beauty.  Our original slogans were Don’t Look Drab in Your Lab, and Making the Lab Cuter, referring to our tendency to supply ourselves with tools and clothing purchased from scientific/medical supply companies which is a great solution for most things, but not as interesting, and sometimes truly not as functional.  Working in the field many years ourselves we had a good idea of what was missing from the catalogs for our particular profession so you may see items on our site that won’t make sense if it is not your field, but also we hope other artists and craftspeople will see items that will assist their work lives equally well.

With the exception of promotional items like the grocery bags, tape measures, water bottles, things like that, our products are handmade in California by us, in our homes.
